Nov. 7th, 2005 @ 07:12 am Now here's something i find awfully odd.....
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4411442.stm

Not so much this, but the fact some churches scowl upon "sinners" (Are we not all sinners?) for their sexuality, wheras if they were mass murderers and repented........

I'd have thought in these days of ever dwindling congregations, even the pink pound/dollar would be welcome, or mayhaps these churches realy are raking it in from dubious business methods, creative accounting and hidden tax-breaks for land ownership?

If you follow the old testament & prophets / saint's since then homosexuality is a repentable sin, but a sin none the less.

Or rather, being intrinsically homosexual is not a sin, but acting upon that nature is a sin.

Now some congregations read the 3 stories in the OT on homosexuality in a different manner to others and as a result have a more sympathetic attitude - after all there are far far more rules and laws about heterosexual relationships than homosexual.

But if this is an article of Faith that Homosexuals are Wrong then there you go. end of debate.

Trouble is that this is the core of the issue in the protestant church at the moment - we now have African Missionaries coming to the UK to bring people to church in the way we once exported Missionaries to Africa to bring 'enlightenment' to the poor savages (I am somehow both disturbed and vastly amused that we are now the savages)

The Church is "appealing to it's base" to shore up the already existing church members. It's part of Benedict's conservative outlook on the Church, and the easiest way to make a show of "discipline" in the church.

Indeed, we are all sinners, that is the nature of man. It is when we act on our sinful nature that we have broken Gods commandment. I beleive that many people that identify themselves as homosexuals were born with that sinful orientation. Indeed it isn't their fault that they have received this affliction-it is a problem when they act upon it, as we are commanded not to act on it. We humans have a choice as to how we will respond to temptation.

Like the XX% of us that sleep with opposite sex partners out of wedlock, in a "Try before you buy" fashion eh? lol.
